Red Top Ranch

Our Stallion

Picture
'Cruiser' is a multiple Champion Shire stallion standing at stud to approved mares.  He is an import from England, imported by Arlin Wareing in 2004 and purchased by Susan Lyons.  He has been shown in halter and ladies' cart classes and is looking forward to more shows in the future.

Cruiser stands 18.0 hh and is an athletic, energetic and intelligent horse.  He boasts a beautiful upheaded elegance with outstanding conformation.  He has produced five foals at this writing with two more due in 2011.  His first foal, Clark's Red Top Featherstone, is a multiple champion, winning Grand Champion Shire Stallion in Denver at the National Livestock show at 8 months of age, leaving reserve to his sire.  Stone has returned to us at the age of four and as a gelding and is for sale.  He still maintains a beautiful presence and is a forward moving hitch type horse.  Henry, Cruiser's second foal, remains at our ranch and has become our team horse for parades and special events.  Zander (Clark's Red Top Alexander) is a beautiful yearling and is for sale.  All are very tractable horses and carry themselves with the same elegance as their sire.

Please let us know if you are interested in Cruiser at stud or would like further information about this spectacular horse.  Shipped semen is available.  We have three of Cruiser's offspring for sale.

Cruiser was Grand Champion, with reserve going to his son Alexander at Grass Valley in 2009 and Reserve Grand Champion over all breeds.  He was Grand Champion at the Los Angeles County Fair for the second time shown there.  He was driven in these shows in various classes by his owner and by his outstanding trainer, Vernon Helmuth.  Watch for Cruiser at Draft Fest in Lodi in 2011, Grass Valley and the Los Angeles County Fair.

Our second stallion, Bear (Clark’s Red Top Sir Barrington, Red Brae Marshall x Dembleby Dorchester) is Cruiser’s fifth foal and an outstanding young horse. He was reserve champion Shire stallion at the Los Angeles International Fair and Livestock show over several mature champion stallions at the age of 5 months. He carries the same upheaded presence of his Sire and has a quiet, easy going temperament. Bear is expected to carry on in his father’s tradition of improved foals and great conformation. Bear is for sale to the right home. Bear is also All American Shire Stallion Foal for 2010.  Watch for him in the show ring in 2011.

Our Geldings

Picture

We have five geldings that range in age from a two year old to 22 years. Natchez, our oldest, is a 19 hh black roan horse who has served us well in everything from single, team and riding and was a crowd pleaser in his early days. Natchez was a fancy and willing horse. He is retired and living the good life of aging care.

Gilmore and Henry are our team geldings, Henry is five and Gilmore is 15. They are a steady, quiet team for any kind of occasion or crowd, seemingly unflappable and a pleasure to drive. Both were born on our ranch.

Stoney (Featherstone) and Zanny (Alexander) , our five year old and two year old, are both for sale, as well as our young stallion, Bear. Stoney is trained to ride and drive, is a fancy perfectly marked Shire with a lot of energy but sweet and easy to handle. Zanny (Alexander) is growing up quickly and is also a pleasure to live with, handle and even ride. Zanny will start training in the Fall for light driving.

Of course, we have the usual quarter horse gelding, Van, who is 24 years old and the perfect babysitter for all young riders.

Molly is a 17 year old mare that has produced some of our well known babies. She has had six beautiful foals, including Rose and Stoney. She is an import with the registered name of Dembleby Dorchester, a Hainton Jim granddaughter. She has retired to continue the spoiled life of the first Shire for Susan.
